Hey lovelies, my name is Sarah Foss!
I met Tori from a mutual friend at a coffee shop and we just hit it off! If you couldn’t tell already, she is very outgoing and ready to learn which is so refreshing to see.
I currently live in northern Idaho with my husband, our one year old, and our second little one who will be joining our family in June! I started my photography journey just over 4 years ago by picking up a camera and photographing everything and anything I could get my hands on, to now just specializing in boudoir photography all year round and in the summers I shoot high school seniors!
As far as my styling tips for boudoir photography, first things first: the clothing have to fit! When a client brings in an outfit that fits her body like a glove, magic happens! I know I struggle with buying clothes that are too big for me and then it just looks ridiculous; the same goes for lingerie. If you buy a piece that doesn’t fit whether it is too big or too small, it doesn’t help anything.
My second styling tip would be to pick out outfits that fit your style. In boudoir photography I think a lot of people think they have to wear a bra & panty set, and they have to wear high knee stockings. The problem is, if those things aren’t your style, it will show in your pictures. You won’t be 100% yourself. If you are more of a comfy, cozy kind of girl, bring in a cute loose sweater and some fluffy socks!
My last tip for boudoir styling would have to be makeup & hair. Every client who books a session with me receives complimentary makeup & hair with my stylists. I truly believe that photo-ready makeup & hair is completely different than everyday makeup & hair. That’s why when I pick my stylists, I am very picky with who I hire. All of my stylists have done my makeup & hair before ever working with any of my clients because I want to make sure my clients are in good hands. If you have to find your own stylist for your own boudoir session I would highly recommend asking your photographer for suggestions on who to use. I love offering complimentary hair and makeup to my clients because I don’t want them to have to worry about doing their own hair and makeup the day of the session because we all know that we can do our makeup and hair on a regular day, but when we actually have to try and look flawless, for some reason our hair doesn't curl right or our eyeliner is not even. I love to take that stress away from my clients so they can come in relaxed and confident for their session!
